LastRhino

World's last male northern white rhino, Sudan, dies at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia county in Kenya. He has died after "age-related complications. The 45-year-old rhino was euthanized on Monday after his condition "worsened significantly" and he was no longer able to stand. His muscles and bones had degenerated and his skin had extensive wounds, with a deep infection on his back right leg.
Other rhinos, the southern white rhino and another species, the black rhino, are under heavy pressure from poachers who kill them for their horns to supply illegal markets in parts of Asia. Roughly 20,000 southern white rhinos remain in Africa. Their numbers dipped below 100 around a century ago, but an intense effort initiated by South African conservationist Ian Player in the mid-20th century turned things around.

us

in 220 words

I spent my youth in Nairobi, in the district of Westlands, and today I divide my time between Italy and Kenya. My brother, however, never left the country; bewitched by Kilimanjaro or perhaps because he is still in search of his leopard. It is he who still drags our children, friends, acquaintances and me into trips that are never the same twice; on safaris that start out by the book and instead adapt to the needs and expectations of who travels with us. Years of personal exploration, of experience in the field and on organised safaris has enriched our knowledge of the territory and provided us with a tried and tested rapport with rangers and local guides. Visiting family members and friends – each one with different needs and expectations - have honed our insight allowing us today to understand which itinerary and route is most suitable for each individual. Although nature and the wildlife remain the same, the way in which they should be approached differs according to personal taste.

The best way to visit a country is to have a local person willing to take you around or - otherwise - here comes my guide! If you are curious to get to know better Kenya and its savannahs you can contact me personally: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

the flight

One of the easiest, quickest and most economical ways to find a flight to Kenya is to search and book flights online, largely because of the great bargains and numerous options available at the click of a mouse. This cuts down the costs and saves the time that would be otherwise spent on the phone or with a travel agent searching for flights. It is possible to refer to and book through the airline websites that fly to Kenya. One of the best ways to get a really cheap flight is to book your flight as far in advance as you can.
